While still giving us no actual details, AYANEO are hyping up the AYANEO 3 Code: REVO handheld that's due to be announced properly sometime soon. Their initial announcement was just marketing speak word-salad, and — surprise, this latest isn't really any different.

They're saying it's "not just a product of technological innovation, it is also an awakening of product thinking" whatever that means. And it will bring "not only hardware innovation, but also a deeper change in the way players interact with their handhelds". Once again, it's like they picked a bunch of buzzwords, put them on a board and threw darts at it to pick out things to say. They continued to note how they aren't just "looking for a faster and more powerful device" but are also "exploring the boundaries of the AYANEO handheld gaming experience". Okay then.

Going by the teaser pictures they included, it's very much a traditional handheld shell design, so it's not exactly that much of a revolution. But, there's only so much you can do with handheld PC designs.

From that second teaser image, it looks a lot like the Steam Deck.

They touched on how previous handhelds have "many trade-offs and compromises among portability, performance, control, battery life and experience" and claim that the "AYANEO 3 brings a new level of freedom, a technological leap, and a conceptual revolution and sublimation, allowing us to say goodbye to the constraints and welcome more possibilities".

Hopefully Bazzite and other Linux versions can get support for whatever it turns out to be nice and quick.

A whole lot of nothing, and that makes me even less interested... Probably going to be yet another generic handled with a """"revolutionary"""" software (aka shitty overlay). Wouldn't be surprised if they slap some """"AI"""" into it just for some more marketing crap

Oh my, now i'm absolutely hyped.
After all this marketing shit-speak, I can't wait to see, what kind of bullshit the actual product represents. AI? Blockchain? Rotary knob?
Please get us informed, Liam!

Greatest revelation - and the only one I'm interested in - would be if it was Linux based.

Even should it be perfectly supported by a Linux distro, I'd still recommend not buying it if it means that you can't unbundle the Windows license. That would send the wrong message.

The Steamdeck was a clear and immediate BUY the moment I heard it will be a Linux handheld.
I (and I think we all) would hope others will jump on that bandwagon.
(And surely Microsoft's 'subsidy' will work against that.)

The old classic never seems to fail does it? Been using that site for decades I feel like. Let's see what we can come up with (I just push the button a bunch of times in a row lol):

This Ananananayo will rapidiously embrace strategic technologies, dynamically reinvent ethical networks, and monotonectally develop leading-edge communities. Not only that, but it will also synergistically recaptiualize impactful ideas, intrinsically supply principle-centered communities, and MOST OF ALL: completely pontificate economically sound storage.

Not a fan of this fake-hype-BS. Usually its not sign of anything good to come. But I´m just as highly interested as in any new handheld PC that gets revealed.

From that second teaser image, it looks a lot like the Steam Deck.

Spoiler, click me
Spoiler alert: Its actually not a device, its a F2P Gacha game!! *crowd goes wild* /badjoke

Feel free not to read or block the AYANEO tag if you don’t want to see it 👍

bit weird to ask people who come to a site called gaming on Linux to just don't read the windows devices articles

They really need to just start releasing these with a Linux distro and stop this Windows 11 crap!
At least then they can properly support their products, unless the purpose is to just abandon after release...

I've covered all sorts of hardware for years, regardless of what they come with. The beauty of Linux is how we can and do stick it on anything. If you take a device, and put Linux on it and you're able to play a game = that's gaming on Linux.

It's no different than buying a laptop (most vendors preload Windows) and putting Linux on it. I will continue to cover lots of different types of hardware. If you don't want it, don't click on it like an adult. You control your mouse clicks :)

Bazzite exists, ChimeraOS, HoloISO and so on and so on for handhelds. I'm not going to ignore a huge part of the industry because a few people don't want to be kept up to date with different types of devices and decide to moan about it in comments.
