It's truly hard to believe that Alien: Isolation is 10 years old now, and we're going to get a sequel to one of the scariest games ever made.
Alien: Isolation is a special one for me, since Aliens is one of my all-time favourite movies, and this perfectly expanded the universe while treating it with respect. Just…my heart didn't particularly like it. What an exceptional experience it was to play.
The day after its 10th anniversary (today), the official account on X (Twitter) confirmed a sequel is now in early development. To save you clicking into Twitter here's the image-cropped statement they shared:
To our fans around the world:
It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of ALIEN: ISOLATION™
When we started developing ALIEN: ISOLATION, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN™ franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.
It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world. Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!) and steely courage in the face of cinema's greatest killer, have been profoundly rewarding.
Whether you're a nightmare mode veteran or stepping into Amanda Ripley's shoes for that thrilling first attempt (good luck!), we wanted to express our deep gratitude. It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary.
On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.
Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development.
We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready.
Once again, thank you.
Until next time,
Al Hope, Creative Director - ALIEN: ISOLATION
The original had Native Linux support from Feral Interactive, who no longer port games over to Linux, so it's likely you'll need Valve's Proton to play the sequel.
I'm excited to see what they come up with, and already terrified to think how it's going to feel to play through.
Alien: Isolation: The Collection can buy purchased from:
Fanatical (86% off)
GOG (85% off)
Steam (85% off)
The sale lasts for about 24 hours from this article publishing.
There is so much to explore in that universe. Alien: Isolation have been one of the best alien games Iv played and I play it yearly in October as I wanna get that Halloween feel, and there is only two games that give me those feels and that's gw2 and Alien:Isolation, dunno if there is som nostalgic feel I need
And then the game was released, gosh... it was soo good!
And we even got a native Linux port from Feral Interactive!
I've been longing for more content of the Alien (and Predator) franchise. The newer movies, well, have been great for fans (like me), except Alien: Romulus which seems to be well accepted by the majorty even. Alien: Earth as a tv show is being aired soon. We got quite some games over the recent years even, with Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Aliens: Dark Descent and even Alien: Rogue Incursion as a proper VR game on the horizon. We are still playing Aliens vs Predator (2010) and even Aliens: Colonial Marines in multiplayer on a regular basis.
Hopefully the sequal will be similar in tension and quality as the first game. The expectations are really high. I'm looking forward to the continuing story of Amanda Ripley.
P.S. Even though Proton usually works better than native games, I sure miss Feral.
See more from me
