Do you adore your classic base-building real-time strategy games? You may want to keep an eye on the in-development Fractured Alliance. I grew up playing the likes of Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and all the rest and so this one feels like it's whispering sweet things directly into my ear.

Looks to be something of a spiritual successor to me both in terms of game mechanics and the style of it. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say, and it pleases me to see more game developers attempt to get more into this genre. Seriously, this looks and sounds like what could have been a lost Westwood game if they kept going. I need it.

Lots of different unit types, nice varied map styles, super weapons, weather effects and more — yep I'm sold.

At release they play to offer a full single-player campaign, along with various types of online battles too.

You can follow it on Steam. They also have a Patreon.

Is there a reason why this game is covered here, other than it looks nice? I mean as far as i can see there is no native linux version planned, it is not based on an open sourced engine, etc.
What makes this game special?

Tense Games accomplishments so far:

* 0 finished games
* 1 unfinished game (early access from 2021)
* 4 announced games for 2024 and 2025

They created separate Patreon site for every game but it doesn't look to be very popular. It will be extremely hard to finish 5 games in reasonable future for small developer/producer...

Looks like good old Command & Conquer. To me at least, that is more than enough 😁

We'll have to see if the game is actually good tho. Out tne looks and type of gameplay are there and Ilove them.

What makes this game special?
- Because it's a game, that I want to play on Linux.
- I thought it looked cool.
- I explained in the article how I grew up playing such games.
- I write based on my own interests.
- Proton exists and has done for years. Proton runs most things on Linux. It's pretty cool, you should try it.
- It's called GamingOnLinux, not NativeOrOpenSourceGamingOnLinux.

Feel free to use any of those points at any time for anything I cover to answer the question on all future articles ;)
