Finally huh? They sure kept us waiting. Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar Games is now set for a PC launch on October 29.

Working together with Double Eleven the PC release will come enhanced with native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality. It will also feature NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings and more.

It will also include Undead Nightmare plus bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.

One still annoying thing about this release is that according to the Steam page it "Requires 3rd-Party Account: Rockstar Games". For a single-player game that's always a nuisance since there's no multiplayer content in this release.

It will be available from Steam.

Will you be buying it? Hopefully it will run well with Valve's Proton.

Good to hear. Last year, I hooked up my old 360 to try to play it again, only to learn it died while it was sitting there.

Yes, after immensely enjoying the prequel, I will buy it on Steam for sure. If it works well on Linux.

After what R* did with GTAV, I will not buy any of their games anymore. You can never know if they will prevent you from playing a Single Player game.

Wait, I always thought this was already on PC. Yes, this is not a game I'm interested in as you might have guessed from my previous statement. I'm not the biggest fan of sandbox games.

What exactly does it have to do with this game? I don't know about RDR1 but RDR2 is a 100h+ single-player story, plus the online mode has a separate story as well (I played it mostly for the story anyway).

It's unlikely RDR1 will have an online mode*, so no reason to put anticheat in.
(*) unless maybe they incorporate RDO into the package, which I doubt, given they don't even maintain it and would probably rather people just stop playing it.

I've been hoping this would come out for a while. But after what happened to GTAV with anticheat I will not be buying this.

At this point in time my friends and I would only play GTAV in online mode in our own lobby. It was a let's jump in and mess around for a bit game, but now that we can't all play together GTAV is useless.

The PC release as noted in the article has no online mode for RDR.

This game (as is RDR2) would be up my alley, but unfortunately the launcher is a deal breaker for me. Technically that would still open up a direct purchase as this wouldn't be a "3rd party" dependency, but I don't really trust rockstar enough for that.
