Quite a unique one here. Tenebris Somnia was announced from Andrés Borghi, Saibot Studios and publishing help from New Blood Interactive. They even pulled in Airdorf, creator of FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, to serve as Executive Producer on it.

It's a 2D survival horror adventure game like the classics with a feel like Silent Hill and Resident Evil mechanically. However, what really makes this one stand out is the blend of retro pixel-art main visuals for the gameplay, and then it totally flips with live-action cutscenes. It's…strange, but it works and when it jumps into a live-action scene it really does make quite the impact before it flips back to the gameplay.

Testing the demo on Kubuntu Linux, it worked perfectly with the latest Proton version 9.0-3 and I definitely think you're going to want to try it for yourself if you like puzzles and horror. See my guide if you don't know how to use Proton.

This game does look pretty interesting with mixing two styles together into one and will probably take the demo for a spin on the Steam Deck to see how well it plays.

Most games with live action FMV on Steam that I've seen are those Chinese dating games with the hot Chinese women. My Chinese friend says they're all the same game. Many with poor acting. So it's good to see something different. Hopefully the acting isn't terrible for those who like horror. It's like the crappy live action FMV stuff of the '90s all over again. lol
