One of the best RPGs ever made is about to get even better, with Larian Studios announcing what looks to be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3 coming in 2025.

In an announcement the developers mentioned we're going to be getting cross-play so you can finally hook up with friends across PC and console. This also includes cross-progression too using the Larian Network.

You might also want to do a fresh play-through as they're also adding in one new subclass for each of the existing Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizard classes in the game. This will come with "new abilities, animations, VFX, summons and cantrips, and unique voiced dialogue lines for the Oathbreaker Knight with written reactivity for Oathbreakers, along with a touch of homebrewing on certain actions to enhance your role-playing experience".

I love the idea of the Ranger - Swarmkeeper subclass, giving you three types of deadly swarms to assist you in combat. Or the Barbarian - Path of Giants subclass to give you more power to launch people around.

That sounds pretty exciting actually!

On top of that, there's going to be a proper photo mode to capture those great moments with a whole bunch of options to tweak the camera to your liking. This includes post-processing effects, photo frames, camera angle, what character to focus on, stickers and more.

A stress-test Beta will begin in early January for players to try it out and report any issues.

woooo! This is one of the few games I happily bought even at full price. The devs are lovely and there's so much to do, so many different outcomes, even after beating the game it's worth beating again

Photo mode is definitely what I'm the most excited about.

The development of this game is so the polar opposite of the big studios, that I almost feel like buying it just to show support, despite I'm not into RPGs.

Echoing the support in these comments for this studio (Larian), I am considering buying on GOG as well, just to give them more of my money.

This was easily the best game I've ever played.
