After another short Beta round, Valve released a fresh Steam Client update to the stable channel for Desktop and Steam Deck.

Steam Deck specific changes:

  • Game recording instant clip duration is now configurable in gaming mode.
  • Fixed native titles occasionally running in the wrong runtime.
  • Fixed a case where WiFi power management settings could fail to be applied at startup.

And the rest of the changes for all:

General

  • Fixed a potential startup crash on systems with an AMD GPU.
  • Fixed some outdated or missing strings in non-English languages.

Game Recording

  • Fixed an issue with the layout of the recording player in Big Picture.
  • Updated the Game Properties Game Recording tab to more accurately reflect the current state of the Game Recording feature.
  • Fixed layout issues in the BPM Game Recording settings page.
  • Added export time to the progress bar in the send to phone dialog.
  • Increased Instant Clip default duration from 10s to 30s.
  • Fixed a race condition which could prevent audio recording.
  • (Windows) Prevent Windows mixer settings from affecting output level when recording game audio.

Linux

  • Fixed native titles occasionally running in the wrong runtime.

Steam Input

  • Fixed a case where a controller could not show up in the UI the very first time it was connected for an account.

Steam VR

  • Fixed an issue with certain keys on the keyboard causing unexpected behavior.
  • Restores single-click Exit VR functionality
  • Fixed an issue where the Linux VR interface would show the incorrect UI

Performance-wise it was nice to have the old UI back... feature-wise not.
Glad this one is fixed.

Curious if this will fix popup dialogues showing on the wrong monitor. (friend alerts, the window, when you press the bell in steam)

I like Valve and they are generally good, but I usually don't really bother with reporting issues anymore, as they usually end up being ignored. They are usually good at responding to proton issues but steam issues do not seem to get looked at often. There was also those CSGO/CS2 issues that were reported and took months to fix which isn't a good look.

Btw, those using OSV Advanced Settings, looks like it broke recently, probabyl with a Steam Runtime upgrade that's included in the beta. The issue is reported here, a fix is to install and set the Steam-Play-None compatibility tool.
