Sony have also had their keynote speech now at CES 2025, and for fans of their games the good news is that there's more of them coming to the big screen.

They've announced that Ghost of Tsushima is getting an anime, which is going to be based on the online Legends mode. This will be a partnership with Crunchyroll (which Sony own) and Aniplex.

More exciting news (for me) is that they've also announced Sony Pictures are doing a Helldivers 2 movie, plus Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are "at the early stages" of developing a Horizon Zero Dawn movie.

Also announced is that the Until Dawn movie will release April 25th, with it being confirmed this is a new story and doesn't follow the game, just takes elements from it. They are still related though, with actor Peter Stormare reprising his role as Dr. Hill.

Additionally, The Last of Us - Season 2 is out in April.

Cue the hunt for Aloy. I really hope they cast an unknown. Could be a really good movie if done correctly.

I’ll never get my hopes up for a movie adaptation, but I agree that Horizon has a lot of good story material and visuals for the big screen. Will be curious to see the result.

Funny. Even though I know that these AAA games will never run on my hardware (and I am not upgrading), I watch the trailers anyway. My first thought, when I watched the Ghost of Tsushima trailer, was that this looks more like it should be a movie than a game. Would probably make a great anime, if it is done right.

Horizon Zero Dawn had the same feel for me.

Ah yes, video game movies. The undisputed height of cinema. Let's hope they get the world famous director Uwe Boll to direct them.
