For people who love their retro gaming and want a Linux distribution that's simple to use and fully featured, Batocera is a popular choice and a big new release is out with version 41.
Their community manager sent over an email about the announcement noting these highlights:
- Improved Wine Support: Many Windows games now run more smoothly than ever, significantly expanding the library of titles available on Batocera.
- Optimized Multi-Screen Management: Fully leverage multi-screen setups, perfect for Pincabs or dual-screen arcade cabinets, for an immersive and customized gaming experience.
- Support for New Boards and Handhelds: Batocera V41 extends compatibility to new hardware boards and portable devices like the Retroid Pocket, providing greater flexibility for our users.
The actual release includes a lot of individual changes noted in the changelog including initial Blamcon light gun support, more gamepads and steering wheels supported, lots of different emulator upgrades, bug fixes, improved NVIDIA GPU detection and more.
