While working on Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, developer The Farm 51 have gone back and further enhanced Chernobylite Complete Edition to bring some Steam Deck improvements.

What is it? According to the dev: "Chernobylite is a science-fiction survival horror RPG. Set in the hyper-realistic, 3D-scanned wasteland of Chernobyl’s Exclusion Zone, explore a non-linear storyline in your search to uncover the truth of your tortured past."

The update was released on January 21st that I spotted today:

  • Default Config Performance optimized for Steam Deck.
  • Text Legibility - some texts increased in size and the whole UI upscaled by 20% to provide better readability of texts.
  • External Controller support so that the game does not have to be restarted after attaching other controller
  • Default Sound Device change to better suit the needs of the device.
  • Some options excluded from Steam Deck like changing fullscreen/windowed mode to avoid problems with video.

Like a few other developers, it's hiding things on Steam Deck that isn't usually going to be used. You should however be able to override their Steam Deck detection (for whatever reason) using SteamDeck=0 %command% as a launch option if they're doing it the same as other developers.

Perhaps this update will see the game get bumped up from Playable to Verified.
