Valve recently updated Left 4 Dead 2 with a compatibility fix for Linux, and it seems they've done the same for their popular puzzle game Portal 2.

The announcements for the two games were only 1 minute apart, and both mentioned simply "Fixed a compatibility issue that was causing a crash on Linux clients" so it's likely it's the exact same fix. This was due to the glibc v2.41 update release that was causing problems on Arch Linux, and would then cause issues when other Linux distributions update.

More info in this linked comment from the Valve Source 1 game GitHub bug tracker.

Nice to see some Valve games get updated quickly to ensure they keep running on Linux.
