Studio Aurum are developing a new 2D monster taming RPG with Monster Crown: Sin Eater, a standalone follow-up to their previous Monster Crown.

One of the challenges faced with the previous game was solo developer Jason Walsh getting diagnosed with a significant disability in 2019. This time around, Walsh has moved into the role of Producer with an expanded team to help bring the ideas to life.

They said they want to take the concept "to its absolute limits" and it sounds like they have some nice ideas. From encountering creatures that act different between fleeing, chasing and stalking you to branching dialogue options that will "have a real impact on the game".

There's a demo available on the Steam page, although it only has a Windows build right now. It should have Native Linux support at the full release. The demo does work with the latest Proton 9.0-4.

You can help fund the development on the just-launched Kickstarter page. They're hoping to get at least CA$43,000 over the next 30 days.
