After requesting Linux testers back in Early 2024, the sneaky stealth platformer Kiyo has a new playtest on Steam for you to try with expanded Linux support. The style and lighting in this one really does look interesting.
One of their team emailed noting how they got "a bunch of really good feedback last year" thanks to our article on the two-person developed game with a custom game engine, and so they're back again. The new playtest on Steam has "more content, improved Linux support (Joypads work too via Steam Input) and this time the Steam Deck is also supported" according to the dev.

More about it (from Steam):
This game creates a special visual style, as it combines “2D ray tracing” pixel art with its neon-bright nightlife.
Immerse yourself in Rabbithole City and enjoy the vibe of a Japanese megalopolis mixed with the feeling of Blade Runner and Cyberpunk.
Visit sexy nightclubs, mansions, secret labs, arcade halls, industrial plants and many more locations in order to liberate all animals.
Whether you prefer a stealthy approach or want to slay all the enemies, the choice is yours.
Use different tools and time your sneaky moves perfectly to hide from all dangers or remove one bunny at a time from the shadows.
You can also unlock other members of the resistance group, take advantage of their different abilities, and find new ways to overcome the bunnies' oppression.
Game Features:
- Semi-open overworld.
- A complex story with a plot that addresses real social issues.
- Stealth gameplay.
- Specially composed synth-wave soundtrack and immersive audio design.
- In-house engine.
- Pole dancing.
Nice to see another developer putting effort into their Linux support. Go give it a run on the playtest and see what you think of it.
I still haven't tested it locally (I've got X) and the steam deck for whatever reason lies and reports X as well, so I'm not 100% sure my Wayland detection code works (need to tweak a few window creation params to avoid crashing).
The Deck doesn't use Wayland. The desktop doesn't, but the gaming session uses gamescope, which is a Wayland compositor. Doesn't that mean that effectively games on the Deck run on Wayland?
