Gravelord is an Early Access boomer shooter from Fatbot Games, creators of the dungeon crawler series Vaporum, and the latest update makes it more accessible with it now Steam Deck Verified thanks to the addition of controller support.

They said that controller support was the most requested feature since launch. In addition, there's now a weapon wheel enabling you to really quickly see what you've got and swap between all the weapons.

Check out their new developer video on the update:

More about it (from the Steam page):

Proven Boomer Shooter Formula:

- Run & jump around levels like a complete badass.
- Beat the living hell out of enemies and blow them up with powerful weapons like there's no tomorrow.
- Abstract level design heavily aimed at fun and engaging gameplay rather than realism.
- Figure out how to beat each level and find its deviously hidden secrets.

So What's the Special Sauce?

- Badass Protagonist: We're bringing back the sassy, witty one-liners like Duke Nukem mixed with the rotten charisma of Frankenstein's monster.
- Use your Spectral Shovel to get around quickly and confuse enemies.
- Collect Tarot Cards to significantly boost your power level and combat options.
- Upgrade your weapons to unlock additional fire modes and synergies.
- Make your own levels with the integrated Level Editor! (This will officially come out with the full release of the game.)

It's currently rated Very Positive on Steam after releasing into Early Access in January 2025. Valve's verification for Steam Deck was using the latest Proton 9.0-4.

Boomers don't use gamepads.

The irony here being that most gamers who play this kind of game are probably Gen X rather than Boomer! Still, this Gen X-er is keeping an eye on Gravelord

When I read "boomer shooter" this time I suddenly imagined an FPS game where everyone above a certain age became zombies so you have to shoot all the . . .
Really it's kind of an iffy term.

I was going to say the same thing.

I loved the wisecracking humour of Duke Nukem 3D. The level design and the logical flow from one level to another also impressed me. If Gravelord can capture both of those aspects, it should be a great game.
