Best Buy have recently increased the price they're listing for the two upcoming Lenovo - Legion Go S models with Valve's SteamOS. They seem to have taken down pre-orders too, with it now just being listed as "Coming Soon".
The new prices could be pretty off-putting. Here's the new USA pricing (credit to cdubbsworld on Reddit):
- AMD Ryzen Z2 Go edition is now $599.99 before it was $549.99.
- AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme edition is now $829.99 before it was $749.99.
Why? The most probable reason are the mess of tariffs going on right now (thanks Trump). Prices of lots of things have been all over the place due to it. This isn't even the first price increase. Originally, Lenovo said they expected it to launch for $499.99 for the Z2 Go edition — $100 is quite a big bump now from their original plan.
Both models are listed as releasing on May 25th.
At this point, it might just be better to stick with the tried and tested Steam Deck directly from Valve. For the price, it's not like Lenovo are giving you much more than what Valve already do with the Steam Deck OLED top model being $649.
Did the windows version also get a similar price bump?
The Windows version is showing as the same price as the SteamOS version, but with a claimed discount of $130 to get it there on the Z2 Go version (ie, they claim that it should be $730 normally). For the Z1 Extreme version, the Windows one is $900 and the SteamOS one is $830.
I will stick with my LCD Steam Deck. If I had to make a move, I'd pick the 512gb OLED Steam Deck and swap drives with the 1tb I already have in my LCD.
All in all, I'll wait for the Steam Deck 2.
