Like your RPGs a little on the weird side? Oddventure from developer Infamous Rabbit that's inspired by and blending a little Alice in Wonderland and EarthBound has finally entered Early Access. The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in 2021, and the release arrives with Native Linux support.

Oddventure is a rollercoaster of emotions, blending bittersweet comedy with dark humor and an innovative combat system involving the mood of each character. You'll be unravelling hidden secrets, facing off against bizarre foes, and discovering just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

More about it: "Step into the twisted fairytale world of Oddventure, where every choice shapes a story like no other! Join Charlie, a rebellious and sharp-witted teen with a fiery temper and a streak of nihilism, as she embarks on a perilous quest to rescue her troublemaking brother, Bonzo. But the cursed kingdom of Luxia is no ordinary place, it’s riddled with eerie mysteries, unexpected consequences, and a darkness that lurks behind every fateful decision."

Features:

  • Battle Enemies – Classic turn-based combat with a twist; use the MOOD of each character! Every battle can have a different outcome.
  • Explore and Interact – Meet new people (or creatures). In this world, every character can be talked to and has something to say. Don't forget to check the objects surrounding your character, either.
  • Make Choices – Every decision matters. It’s up to the player to see how the story plays out and which of several endings they’ll come to face.
  • Solve Puzzles – Between battles, explore a world filled with cute and weird puzzles full of odd creatures.

I actually supported this myself on Kickstarter, so I can't wait to dive in. My key only arrived recently though, so I haven't yet had time to play it other than checking the Linux version works.

Oddventure | Release Date: 3rd April 2025
