Dune: Awakening from Funcom is getting a free weekend soon and it's getting a first ever discount, so a good time to see what all the fuss is about. You can see my original thoughts at release in the previous GamingOnLinux article.
I still think it's one of the best modern MMOs, and I have a lot of hours in this one. Thankfully, even with BattlEye anti-cheat, it works great on Linux platforms like SteamOS. It's also Steam Deck Verified, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it on Steam Deck.
The free weekend will run through September 11th - 15th and at the same time there will be a 20% discount until September 22nd. For the free weekend they've announced zero restrictions, so you'll be able to go as far as you like until the time runs out or you buy it. And since it's an MMO, if you buy it later, you just carry on wherever you left it.
On top of that they've also just announced that the Chapter 2 update and Lost Harvest DLC will now arrive September 9th, a day earlier than expected.

It is a base building survival game and you can at most store 21 days of fuel in your base and have to pay taxes every 2 weeks or you lose your base shield and sandstorms will eat up your base. So if you do carry on later, you'll just have your character levels, any gear on you, and any gear stored in the bank. You won't be starting over completely but if you do leave for awhile it will be a pretty big set back.
