Well i have a 4850 and honestly i've never had a slow map loading problem, well not that slow they have sped it up a bit in later releases.
For single player matches i'm not so sure, the best way for maps is still the download websites as they give you info, ratings, comments etc.
Multiplayer they download when you try to join a game lobby using it.
As for AI...i'm not sure never really use AI!

Cheeky bastard... :P
My parents have always had a rather "Liberal" view on content ratings, as I said I first played Doom when I was seven. And besides, I am a bloody farmer, I have seen some worse (and weirder) things in real life. At any rate, I may not be legally allowed to purchase Penumbra at my age but if someone who has purchased it happens to let me play it, that is not even close to being illegally.
Though this is why I always claim to be born in 1910 when they ask on the website though. :P
Does anybody care about content blockings?

Maybe it's be better to dig out all the Spring post in this thread and move them into a new thread.
Anyways, yesterday I've installed Spring again- strangely there is no obvious documentation as to where your maps/mods go (/home/your-name/.spring/).
There was no "mods" directory there (I needed to create it myself) and there where no mods, so the single player game couldn't be started.
I've downloaded a mod, chose a map and put a few AI players - I won in 1 second when the AI apparently wasn't compatible with the mod.
Then I chose a different AI (RAI I think, don't remember),it was different :
I love to take it slow, developing my economy, buildings and then creating an army but the AI used the blitzkrieg tactics, built several cheap units and attacked me - I was dead after 10 minutes ;)
I've tried a second game with a different map - same result ;)
it's been a very long time since I've played RTS games, but I hope I'll get the hang of it - this game is really good.
Forgot to reply to this.
I have asked them numerous times to create the "mods" and "maps" directorys in the home spring folder but they don't seem to want to.
There are a couple of really interesting looking games coming out for it now. A guy named "cremuss" who re-modeled a load of old TA units/buildings is making his own game for the Spring Engine, just check these teasers out:

http://cremuss.free.fr/3d/2008/EvolvereNORMAP2.jpg
Easily the best looking game to be in-dev for the Spring engine.
