Not sure if anyone knows this but if certain games for example ports from when loki was around no longer have sound then you need to run the "padsp" command before you run the game which forces it to use OSS sound :).
So as a quick example in terminal:
padsp ./gamename
Games it has fixed for me:
CortexCommand BETA
Shadowgrounds from LGP
View PC info
The only command I use to solve the "pulseaudio" issue is :
sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio
Problem solved !
