!Bail or Jail (Obakeidoro!)
I spent part of this evening simply playing a bunch of online matches in Bail or Jail (Obakeidoro!) (Proton), which is a light-hearted ghoulish-themed cops-and-robbers game with a Scooby-Doo-ish "Halloween every day" sort of vibe. It's one of my favourite games of recent times as-is, and it's a perfect fit for a few quick games on Halloween, of all nights.
Did anybody else have any specific picks lined up for Halloween? What were they?
Night Slashers (1994 Data East) - Beat 'em up
Splatterhouse (1988 Namco) - Beat 'em up
And I also played
Castlevania: Simon's Destiny (2017 Batandy) - GZDoom - First Person Whipper
Halloween: The New Nightmare

Also booted to my other (from scratch) setup to test some OpenGL games and ended up playing Soma for an hour or so. That's a good creepy game for Halloween, not so much because it's horrific and scary, but because of the nature of what's happening. The end is the ultimate torment (for the character I mean, not that it's aggravating)
We don't get kids anymore. Two years ago we had one family show up that lives on an adjacent street, but it's mostly old folks and summer cottagers around here. We always buy stuff and have it at hand, and turn the driveway lights on etc. but nobody comes.

Downwell (steam)
-- it's an amazing game; works flawless on proton. (Actually, it doesn't even need proton, just a gamemaker binary. Finding a compatible gamemaker binary can be a problem, though.)
For Halloween itself I started playing The Excavation of Hobs Barrow. Non-gaming activities did keep me occupied so I have only played a couple of hours. No spooky stuff so far but it is well written and acted with oodles of atmosphere.
I also made sure to bake plenty of pumpkin pies. Three so far! I was expecting to make a fourth this weekend but the oven broke... Fingers crossed that spare part gets here in time!

Mmmm, home made pumpkin pie. That's something that has to be home made... few make one that doesn't make me gag (like store bought ones... the colour and consistency of unripened stool, with a funny taste. It's usually squash, not pumpkin, too)
My mother lost her sense of smell a long time ago due to chemotherapy damaging her olfactory receptors. She only gets sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and "umami" (e.g. glutamates in meat distributed by fats) and of course the heat only from capsaicin in peppers. So she has a hard time judging spices etc.
One time she accidentally put a little extra ginger in the pumpkin pie and it was like magic, the best I'd ever had. Everyone else went ape shit nuts for it too. I asked her "WTF did you do! We have to duplicate this". I'm not sure she ever got that ratio of spices exactly the same again, but it's close every time.
Anyway, I hope yours turned out well

#!/bin/sh
git clone --recursive https://github.com/brizzly/Halloween3D.git
cd Halloween3D/HalloweenSrc
mkdir Build
cd Build
cmake ..
make
cd Halloween3D/HalloweenSrc/Build
cp halloween ../../distrib
cd ..
cp libbass.so ../distrib
cd ..
cd distrib
./halloween
The Hunted Chronicle 2 worked fine on Ubuntu 18.04, but I could only use the 32-bit version.

Have you played it using proton or the compatible gamemaker binary.
I've tried with binaries from Risk of Rain and Fran Bow Demo and it didn't work. First I had problems with missing libraries which I finally resolved with LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime.old/lib/i386-linux-gnu/:$HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime.old/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu ./runner
It stopped complaining but now I have memory protection violation.

I've been playing it with Proton ever since I started running into the issues you describe w. the Fran Bow Demo binary. It used to work just fine; then after an update it broke (can't remenber when - a couple of years ago, maybe), and I haven't bothered finding a replacement since proton works fine.

Well playing it natively would be nice but I'm also not going to search for a compatible Game Maker binary.

That just makes it so I never progress. I kept meaning to get back to it, but the yuck factor prevailed.
P.S. With sadness, I've never been able to play Amnesia Rebirth. I've tried twice over the years (2nd time fairly recently) and had to send it back. The same OpenGL rubbish (starts out with artifacts, then corruption, then crash... always). whether I ran the native or windows/proton. I really wanted to play that.

Yeah I just stream all my games through the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to not have to deal with Linux specific issues with Windows games

In all seriousness, nothing Halloween themed. I've given up on bothering with most holidays outside of May Day and other labor holidays. But I did tryout some Counter-Strike 2 on Devil's Night. Plus secular el Día de los Muertos celebration is cooler than Halloween anyways. lol
