That actually helped me for a different website where I suddenly had the entire comment section disappear for me.
I did figure out it was uBlock which did that, but so far my solution was to disable it entirely on the website (which of course had certain downsides ).
But turning off only the cosmetic filters did the trick without downsides.

I guess its generally better effectiveness comes at the cost of a bunch of false positives.
