Left 4 Dead 3 & Half-Life 3 Are Real According To The Creator Of Counter Strike
By Pinguino, 22 May 2014 at 8:49 pm UTC

Quoting: fedsoEvery time I hear an interview where HL3 is hinted I have the sensation it is talked about like if it were an old memory. I'm starting to think too that HL3 is not in the plans anymore, considering also the fact that Valve seems be focused exclusively on multi-player nowadays (where the big money are, looking at Dota2 tournament).

Yeah, it's a good thing they're being careful about their statements regarding HL3 lest we see another Duke Nukem Forever.

Quoting: dudeThank you! I always needed this command for unity-engine based games like Kerbal. But as far as I know, Witcher 2 has it's own engine. Maybe an OpenGL bug? Some deeper insight would be nice if anybody knows.
Might be related to the digits separators differences between countries. I.e. US/UK use the dot as a separator where other countries like France use the comma (which US/UK use as a list separator). It messes scripts and settings files.

This should be reported to the developers.

Steam In-Home Streaming Now Open To All, Linux Streaming To Come Soon

Been playing about with this for the last two hours.

I am truly, truly stunned as to how well this works.

My main gaming rig, i7, 16 gigs, gtx 670. Linux box under my telly, 4 year dual core zotac mini pc with integrated graphics.

I've been able to play all games at 1920x1080 resolution and fairly smooth mouse movement. The wireless connection on the zotac is actually pretty poor and kept getting "slow connection" messages with the streams, but overall, it was definitely playable.

I haven't upgraded that zotac box in years, but thinking a wireless dongle might be in order.

I can't believe how well this is working - I've got a linux games console under my telly! It kicks the ps4 and xbox arse!

Gabe and Valve - I love you guys.

I read this as "I actually am a toddler myself" at first. :P

The dangers of skimming!

I have the demo of this, Arch users can also install it from the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/among-the-sleep

Unfortunately, I have not had time to try it out in much detail, but it looks good from my initial impressions!

Amazed by the stupidy of Valve though, the game is not even shown on the page for Linux games on Steam. But we still have Super Meat Boy scrolling at the top, looks like it’s stuck there forever…
Valve godness! Hail to the king Gabe! PC GLORIOUS MASTER RACE!

Is you Linux french? Mine is and it may be the source of the problem.

Same problem for me on Kubuntu 14.04 x64/Nvidia. Tried also with XB360 Pad. No input. If I set keys manually, the game crashes. I had it installed since the "beta" was accidentially released on steam, maybe it works after re-download.. I'll try

Civilization V Looks Rather Close To A Linux Version

Quoting: wleoncio
Quoting: OZSeafordI bought it with all the DLC's as was hoping it would come to linux one day
I did the same thing with XCOM: EU, but no DLCs. Is buying DLCs (or the games themselves) after an eventual Linux announcement help bring attention to Linux? How does Steam count OS usage, by the OS on which a game is installed or what?

Well, to be honest, I picked it up on a Humble Bundle. I think that your idea of buying the DLCs for games we already own when they come to Linux is a great idea. It sure will show them WHICH machine it is being played on, and also will give them a small financial boost.

I have just bought all the DLC's for Crusader Kings 2!

I don't care that I have to buy them again, Metro: Last Light was, for me, the first really good game to port to Linux. I don't really pay attention to what's a AAA game and what isn't, but Metro: Last Light was, to me, a AAA game. And I loved it. Played the main story line through twice, even got the Shadow Ranger achievement, and I'm still in love with it.

I'm especially happy about the 2033 news. I'm part way through reading the novel right now, so I'm very excited to see the game based off of it is coming to Linux!

By OZSeaford, 22 May 2014 at 6:52 pm UTC

Wait for it, maybe this is much bigger than we think!

Imagine that the host machine is not at your house, but somewhere in Gabeland?

That would mean you would not have to even own a Windows machine, and that all 3500 games would be available to play on your SteamOS box. Your SteamOS box need not be a beast as well, modest specs will enable you to play well with a thin-client.

Onlive did not work out that great, but this is 3 years later.

Then you will say, what is the incentive for the development of Native SteamOS games? well, let's face it, there would always be some discernable lag between input and what happens on the screen, even with the mighty Steam Controller. So people would still buy the native versions when available.

I can't believe this is happening, thios and all the other games, I now have a BACKLOG of AAA games on Linux!
