Frostbite, IW_Engine, RAGE, Anvil

I've written in the Desura forum in hopes they take Desura customers more seriously. I shouldn't have bought it until completed.

I've setup a system with LTSP and virtualgl that works pretty well. Virtualgl will also run wine and integrates with turbovnc/tigervnc as well. Virtualgl doesn't do sound, but that's handled in ltsp with pulseaudio anyway. So now any pc that can boot from lan, runs linux without needing to install anything including 3d games. Off course you don't need LTSP, virtualgl will work on just about any linux and you'll only need enable networksound for pulseaudio to complete the experience.

A game I have recently put my eyes on is "Next Car Game"....
There are some people asking Linux support in the Community, but I don't remember seeing any response from devs, unfortunately.

That would be great. Codemaster's racing games are next to impossible to get working in Wine. The closest success I've had is with the first GRID, and even then it just randomly crashes.

Hope their next Formula 1 game has Linux support. I own F1 2011 and 2012 but can't play them anymore. Probably my most missed games since I stopped dual booting. At least I can still play GP4 in wine while I wait.

Ah, waiting for that one, sort of. I saw some teasers etc., and really liked it. But the game is currently Steam-only, so I couldn't try myself. So I've loosely(*) marked July in my calender...
(*)April had been marked, too, for 'The Sky above', but that seems to have passed without action...

I give them bonus points for never using the word "retro" on their Steam page.
Looks kinda like a bullet hell sort of game in the preview. Not sure yet if that makes me more or less likely to get it.

Great game. Reminds me alot of Gauntlet on the c64.
Been having alot of fun with it, can't wait to try out the thief.
The developer has been really good at sorting out any problems us linux players have aswell.
It doesn't require mono dev packages, or even mono at all on your system anymore. Fixed up all the controller problems. I can't wait for them to make more games.

It should also be noted that you currently can only stream from Windows and Mac boxes. Linux hosts have been disabled currently with the intention of fixing some bugs; unfortunately meaning that those only possessing Linux boxes, including myself, are currently out of luck :P

The Wine Development Release 1.7.18 Is Now Available
By gbudny, 3 May 2014 at 8:03 pm UTC
For example, I do not think that is a bug in Wine:
"Ankh 2: Heart of Osiris fails to start"
This game is available for Linux and Mac OS X.
Moreover, I strongly believe that Wine should inform their users about availability of the games that are available for Linux and Mac OS X.
In my view, users should not rely on Windows applications, if they do not have to use them. Why WIne developers do not care about native applications for Linux and Mac OS X?
By gbudny, 3 May 2014 at 8:03 pm UTC
Quoting: JIghtuseSome folks (e.g., Joel Spolsky thinks that you must not write new code until you have unfixed bugs. It is hard and it is not the case with Wine development. But hey, do you keep a bug in a code you work on just because it is used in rare cases you can use native programs for GNU/Linux?
