Good to see more titles heading to the store of my favourite Distro! Although I have never properly played either, guess it's time to check them out again!
I do prefer doing things via the software centre, I know it will work, have proper libs installed etc, Just makes it a lot easier! So hats off to Introversion for getting included!

London, 23rd March: Canonical today announced the addition of Darwinia and Uplink, games by renowned publisher Introversion to the Ubuntu Software Center. Users can buy, download, install these games in just a few clicks and for the first 30 days, the games can be bought from the Ubuntu Software Centre for the special price of $9.99 US, reduced from $12. These titles extend the applications that Ubuntu users can enjoy, allowing them to play great games on their preferred platform.
Darwinia won the Seamus McNally Grand Prize, Technical Excellence, and Innovation in Visual Art awards at the Independent Games Festival. Uplink is considered a classic game, concerned with simulated computer hacking and a firm favourite with Linux users who will welcome its availability on the leading Linux desktop platform.
Ubuntu Software Centre gives Ubuntu users access to thousands of applications both free and paid. A purchasing capability was recently added giving users access to yet more titles across a wider range of genres. The purchasing process is completely secure and integrated in the Ubuntu identity management system. In effect it offers a fully enabled applications store for Ubuntu users.

That's great news. Now, Subversion will be likely released on there as well, where I will gladly purchase it.
Coincidentally, I just started working on an Uplink mod last week. Check out the Uplink forums if you're interested. (Unlike other mods, mine actually includes Linux binaries!)

I am surprised to see Subversion mentioned there... I was under the impression that Introversion had given up on us. Or was I misinformed? :confused:

Hamish, I don't know what gave you that impression. Subversion will hopefully be released sometime this year, although they don't have an official release date yet. See here: http://forums.introversion.co.uk/introversion/viewtopic.php?t=2718

Yea, I suspect that releasing Multiwinia for Linux isn't a huge priority since it was a financial failure - but you can purchase the source code and get it working in Linux yourself if you're determined. I'm considering buying the source code - maybe I'll learn a thing or two about 3D rendering in games.

Yeah, well, it annoys me when something like that happens anyway... like when we get the first or second game in a series but do not get the third or fourth. It ruins continuity. Granted, I am unaware of Multiwinia sharing anything in particular with the other Introversion titles (which I should admit I have never played either), but it still annoys me...
