The nice folks over at Kot-in-Action emailed me about a Poll they are doing on their company website (http://www.kot-in-action.com/content/ - look to the right).
It looks to me that they are gathering input for future games, which could be good for all of us since they are the creators of the solid shooter Steel Storm series (Desura link).
Currently the poll is leading with the answer:
While it doesn't have too many votes at the moment, I suggest you all get your voices heard and vote as it could turn into a new game for us all!
They are also working on Tomes of Mephistopheles (click it to see more).

They consider using UDK for their next project(s): https://plus.google.com/111691372365717812326/posts/gipqeiwxDHJ
With UDK there won't be a native Linux port of those game(s)...

Let me make clear. Tomes of Mephistopheles is going to be built using Darkplaces engine. Therefore it will run on Linux as native app.
I am free to license Steel Storm franchise to anyone I want to and these people can make a new that will run on any platform of their choice. So that what I am doing. I am licensing the my franchise to a team to build some other game. I am not participating in it. If they decided to choose UDK, it was their sole decision.
Kot-in-Action is working on Steel Storm DLC and Tomes of Mephistopheles, both of which are for Linux.

Regarding that poll, if we ever do that FPS game, I am planning on releasing it first on Linux exclusively, and then some time later on Win/Mac.

For those interested in the 3rd party side, Epic has announced Flash support for Unreal and (hopefully) soon UDK. Flash 11 has been announced by Adobe to run on Linux with hardware acceleration. So there's a possibility that not only can a UDK game run on Linux but that it can stream content meaning it takes up less hard drive space and (hopefully, from other streaming services I've looked at recently) load times.

Also, 3rd parties are still in consideration of what engine they will use. I am just learning UDK personally right now and I do help with the KiA team community management as well.

Personally I will publicly go on record to congratulate Kot in Action's support for Linux! :)

I thought this was going to be topdown with humans instead of ships and got all exited...but its not that which puts it in competition with an awful lot good quality free software. Looking forward to DLC

I highly doubt there is a free AAA quality dungeon crawler (not that there are whole a lot AAA FPS dungeon crawlers on the market for $20).
And according to some FPS gurus, there is nothing like Doom/Quake on the market as far as gameplay.
