Desurium is the official name for the open sourced Desura client which is now officially open sourced as of today. The source code is available under the GPL V3.
So hackers get going. Think it needs a big new feature? Now you can help make Desura even better. This could also help with integrating it with the various Linux desktop environments and all sorts of things.
This could be incredibly useful for developers too, since some may need extra features not currently available on the client.

dont like the name... they did chrome(chromium) there.
but lets hope some nice improvements.
really wanna see the IM integration and Achievements + gamehours tracking.
achievements not my thing tho, but it will keep players busy at least specially if there are rewards for that.

If it were somewhat interoperable with the current steam implementation of achievements, maybe some of the devs would bother implementing it. However, this would need more than changing the client, something for the web interface would be necessary as well.

Desura's "achievements" are called "accolades" and aren't really something that can be implemented on the client side. I don't think we'll be seeing them until after the Desura API is available (that's separate from the client) and game developers start using it.
