About:
QuoteIntro:
Before being imprisoned for eternity, Mephistopheles, the Lord of Darkness, put his sinister knowledge into several tomes which were scattered across the land. Many wicked souls were corrupted by the Devil and spent their lives searching for the wretched Tomes of Mephistopheles, to gain the knowledge of their unholy power. It has been foretold that the beholder of the Tomes will possess the greatest power known to mankind and will rule the world, but will corrupt it and leave it in ruins. The secret society known as the Deputies of Uriel dispatched its most skillful members to find the Tomes and destroy them at any cost. Will you fulfill your duty or succumb to the corruption of the Dark Lord ?

Description:
Tomes of Mephistopheles is a first-person
action-RPG dungeon crawler. With its fast-paced fluid combat, a multitude of medieval and magical weapons, an in-depth custom spell system, and randomly generated persistent worlds, ToM is a pinnacle of the genre.
Seeking the sinister Tomes, you will forge a path through the dungeons using anything that becomes available to you, while attaining skill and power along the way by exploring, questing, and crafting unique equipment and tailoring spells for yourself.

Features:
Crawl through vast, procedurally generated dungeons and overworlds.
Use explosives or other means to create your own path through a destructible world.

That is kind of neat. Nice to see it mentioned on one of the oldest gaming news websites. ;)

Will this also be comming to Desura?

Seems like it would be a good fit for their alpha funding program.

Not just yet. They want quite a lot for just storing game files and doing no promotion :(
Brandon Smith Feb 18, 2012
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are they asking for?
motorsep Feb 18, 2012
I am not sure if it's under NDA, but let's say they are asking for standard deal (Steam, GamersGate, etc.). While other distributors have promotions, specials, media events, etc. to promote the games they distribute, Desura does not. Whether it's because they don't have enough human resources or whatnot, I don't know. But when we had sales with Steel Storm, they couldn't even put the banner up in the front page saying "hey Desura fans, SS is on sale!". So basically paying good chunk of royalties for file storage is not fair.

Don't get me wrong, I like Desura and the guys behind it. But business is business and everyone is looking to cut their overhead costs.

Once we have multiplayer working, we might have autopatching in the game (for game logic and art assets). Otherwise Customers can download patches from their e-Shoppe accounts, when we have patches.

I guess what is needed is for Desura to get more guys on board for the advertising then.
motorsep Feb 18, 2012
not just that, they simply need to make what they have efficient, like Steam. Why is it so hard to be able to have a banner of a promoted game in the pop-up or on the front page? Or have Daily Deal special or something like that?
Brandon Smith Feb 18, 2012
Would you say that even so, is it really no better than just hosting on your own site? Do they not bring in any more sales at all? Or just not enough to warrant the 30% I guess.
motorsep Feb 19, 2012
we had virtually no sales from Desura, since May 2011
