As our friends Ubuntu Vibes have pointed out and something which I also found out but didn't get time to post, Deep Black: Reloaded have confirmed they are porting to Linux and Mac!

The game looks very, very good. It's nice to see some original shooters coming to Linux, something I feel we are lacking in.

This is definitively intriguing, I wonder what convinced them to start the port. Now, they are Russian Indie developers, so we had somewhat of an in, but based on some of their comments I think the Desura release and the Mac and Linux ports are being done mostly as a raised middle finger to their previous publisher.
Well, that seems fine to me. :D

"Now we have multiplayer via LAN and via Internet only on Steam/XBLA/PSN. Because we don't have own matchmaking server. If Desura will run matchmaking SDK, we are ready implement it."
thats sad ... i would like multiplayer.. coop or against eachother.

Wow neat. I hadn't watched the trailer before. This does look pretty awesome.

My 'to buy' list just increased by 1. Damn, graphics looks really impressive. And while multiplayer would be nice bonus, i wouldn't be too much upset about it.

This is absolutely great!
I hope there will be enough linux-copies sold for them to port their next titles too.

Well, after this their in-house engine will have been ported over anyway. So there would be less work involved with any future titles when it comes to releasing them on Linux. Not a guarantee, but a good sign none the less.

It seems to have gotten some pretty mixed reviews, but I'm all for keeping an open mind until I can try it myself.

I have lost faith in most commercial game reviewers already, to be honest.
I can not comment on the game of course, but still...

I always ignore metacritic, i never trust it at all. Look at the reviews on Desura from actual players, not reviews who are all "its no gears of war".
8.7/10 on Desura so far.
