The Linux Game Publishing cogs are moving

By -
Linux Game Publishing has pushed their first titled to the Ubuntu Software Centre, the first title is Sacred Gold (one I personally own and it's not bad at all!).

It's good to see them finally pushing forward! It is still one of the best RPG games available natively on Linux. I hope more games get added and that it is a success for them.
This title is available for $14.99 which is a much reduced price when their website lists it for £27 (~$42), one reason could be is that this is the download and not the boxed version I have.

Apparently it is also coming to Desura as well as pointed out elsewhere. Another titled listed on Desura is Majesty Gold, so that could be coming soon too although that page may have been made by a Desura member judging by who uploaded the screen shots so who knows!

At this point it is unknown if it comes with the LGP DRM so many people dislike.

Good luck guys. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

thanks for not being a larabel, what ever his problem is with LGP he is going way to far to burn a company down.

lets hope its gives LGP some new source in income to invest in new ports.

Could some one enlighten me about the LGP/Phoronix situation?

Also what other sources will have LGP titles now?

not sure tbh, but its every month or two he goes out of his way to bash LGP as hard as he can. Once saw an LGP post about or on Phoronix about them never covering LGP when there where new titles but only when there was negative news to cover. Maybe something happens behind the screens where LGP ignored Phoronix or something, it just feels like a one sided vendetta

well ubuntu store, which sadly is not for us none ubuntu users, desura and of course LGP itself

What I really want to know is the DRM situation of these titles...

According to the reviews on USC, it's still DRM ridden. That is, they send you a cd-key by mail. Well, I'll still be avoiding it then. I hate keeping track of cd-keys, and there doesn't seem to be a crack floating around.

It's on Desura! Seems to be related to the change in leadership. Seems bothersome that these will be released separately from their Windows counterparts. So the chance of seeming them on Steam seems rather measly.

Also, still has the DRM. Maybe if it comes to Steam it won't.

but Steam also is DRM....

I understand the ridiculousness of my statement. Whoops, I guess.

Yes, DRM-free would be preferable, but I have to say I prefer Steamworks to their stuff. That is, it's very much less intrusive, and since I already have to install it through a client (be that Desura or USC), it doesn't make that much of a difference. I guess this might be fuelled a little by the fact that I hate CD-keys. But honestly, I can't keep track of them.

Guys, if you're still interested, you can activate your copies on Desura. And vice-versa. http://www.desura.com/games/sacred-gold
Just send them an email and they'll sort it out.
