The Left 4 Dead blog recently posted an update talking about how they've been working on Steam Workshop support. Towards the end of the post was this tidbit about timeframes and platforms:

QuoteAll of this will also be available not just on the PC and Mac, but also for Linux users as well starting in the middle of next month and rolling out from there. We will have more details as we get closer to launch.

Superb! I hope this leads to all Valve titles getting Workshop support.

Ah, fruit. Looks like a typo slipped into the title. Not sure if/how I can fix that.

You can do it by pressing Edit to the right of the link to it on the topic list on the actual forum page.

Also under Thread Options on the post itself - only just realised this one myself.

On topic - So Steam very soon then making Valve Time allowances.

Should it have been "Left 4 Dead 2 Getting Worship and Linux Support in Mid October"? ^^

Ah. I guess I don't have permissions to do that - I don't see thread options or an edit link in the news subforum.
No matter. I made the typo, so I'm happy to live with it ^_^

Yeah, the L4D blog post is in line with stuff that I've heard.

Valve seem to have been a little more reliable with publicised dates over the past couple of years (I think they just don't throw specifics out there until they're certain now), so "Valve Time" doesn't seem to have the relevance it once had.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the rollout of Workshop in Left 4 Dead. I really wish they'd throw Workshop on Alien Swarm. That was the perfect title to launch it on, IMO, since it's an empty canvas waiting to be filled (and having Workshop launch on it would have given it a bit more of the attention it deserves).
