Subscription 16549 has appeared in the Steam Content Description Record (CDR) database. Mirrors such as thebronasium.com, portal-2.fr and marlamin.com have the listing as being titled "Steam Linux Beta".
For anybody not familiar with Steam's CDR stuff, it's like a directory listing of every application and subscription provided by Steam.
From what I can see, the CDRs for the recent Steam Community Beta were added mid July, and the first round of 100,000 beta keys were thrown out to Steam members with the Pillar of the Community badge on August the 21st, eventually going live on the 5th of September.
Whilst it probably wouldn't be a good idea to expect that a Linux Steam client (or the games it would be deliverying) would work to the same timeframe as the new Steam Community features, it does give some food for thought.
Be patient, and don't jump to too many conclusions ;)

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: "Anon, post: 5352"In the least, Serious Sam games will be there quite soon (the devs said so themselves).
Plural?

Plural because of 'games' or because of 'devs'? Games, since they said they will port SS3 and there were two before that and devs since it was a statement from the lead of the development team, therefore from the devs.

I debate that point - the older Serious Sam ports are of such dubious quality I would definitely not sell them. It would be interesting if they ported the new HD remakes of their earlier titles though, especially since they use the same engine as SS3.

The original Serious Sam is the only one I've played and I thought that was on-par with stuff that was being released at the time.

Not a reflection on the game, but the quality of the ports. None of them were ever properly finished.
I would never complain about a game being too out of date or some such complaint.

Fair enough. I don't think I've played any of them natively, though I have heard that the SS2 port wasn't properly launched/completed/whatever.

i played SS2 with the native client(beta installer from loki). didn't have any problems.
played co-op with friend on the windows client. for me it worked well without issues.
HD version would be really nice if they get ported to linux as well. tho they work great through wine.

TFE works great (assuming you get can fix the sound stutters) until the final level where you have this strange bug where the world spins around and you can spin through the floor. TSE has this problem appear throughout the entire game. I have also never been able to finish the final boss fight in TFE. I have not tried SS 2.

Well I am getting more and more excited for this seriously cannot wait!
This coupled with the fact that by the end of next year we may even have decent optimus support on Linux + latest kernel 3.5+ actually makes Linux not crash on my laptop = good times.

Currently working on Winter's Wake, a first person text adventure thing and its engine Icicle. Also making a little bee themed base builder called Hive Time :)
I do more stuff than could ever fit into a bio.
