Divine Space

By -
Keeping in theme with the last scifi news post, here is another spacey themed game, currently seeking funds on Kickstarter. DS will be multiplatform on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and maybe on Ouya should their goal of 100k be fullfilled.

About:

QuoteDivine Space is a 3D space adventure/quest action-RPG focused precisely on science fiction, with third person view, click-n-go controls and real-time combat system.

So what exactly can you do in the game?

You can explore new planets and stars, destroy asteroids and gather resources from them. You can interact with unique bases, planets and satellites, where you can pursue quests and missions or buy and sell goods and resources.

You can become a merciless pirate and rob other ships, or an honorable ranger and defend traders and harvesters from bandits. You can affect world politics by participating in quests and the global storyline, learn the history of the universe from other characters or forgotten artifacts...

You can construct a ship of your own design!

And then equip it with different weapons, devices, and engines, researching the best balance and combat tactics.

They lost me at click and go, and pay for ingame money.

Click and go is the same as eve online's system it seems.

Free-2-play
About free-to-play model: most of the games abuse this model, making it impossible to play without money (or success without money).
In my previous game, top-1 was a player who never payed, never. Most of the goodies are social and services, like extended chat powers and etc. 90% of things can be bought for both types of money - 'real' and game.

In other words, if you are lazy - you can buy for real, if you are skilled - you will get it in game. If you are unskilled, lazy and don't have money - you will get it, but it will take a while. This is a skill-money-time triangle that is now broken in 99% of games, and this sucks.

Click-n-go
About click-n-go - yes. Can't help you there. Imho, modern people simply don't have so much time as before to learn controls of sims, or sink in game for so long as it required to play Eve. Click-n-go is easy for everyone and it's not making game worse: you are fighting, grinding, interracting; you still can show your skills in combat by wisely chosing tactical moves or when to use this or another item.

Resume about click-n-go: casual rules don't make game simple or primitive. References - chess, poker, go (weiqi).

Dixit!

What will happen if you do not hit the Kickstarter goal?

Development will be frozen. There is a tiny chance that it will be recovered later, though.

Hi, I am a backer of Divine Space in kickstarter and I am quite enthusiastic about it, I just want to share what made me like and anticipate this game that much..

I think that any kind of "f2p" is better than p2p, I do not like to have to pay just to be able to enter the game's world, so I prefer any f2p model in that matter.

Other than that, I also really, really prefer point-and-click control for space games, especially about flying a spacecraft. You see, a spacecraft that follows and hits wherever my pointer goes seams like flying a modern or even worse (since even now we have automated guns in planes and missiles who can follow targets) a WW II plane fight, and most of space games that are out right now (or are about to be released) with the exception of EVE use cockpit-view or control that follows the mouse.

So in conclusion, there is no game that does or says that it will do combine all this..
