Egosoft plans new Linux ports for X3

Linux Game Publishing recently lost the license they had for selling the X-series of games. Now, we know why. The developer Egosoft is taking care of the porting themselves and aims to sell X3 with all the expansions (some of which were not previously released on Linux) on Steam.

Egosoft is looking to hire a new developer for this, so if you have experience with OpenGL and SDL, be sure to apply for the job. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Yep, let's hope they plan on bringing back X2 and port their new titles as well.

(Also yay for me for finally finding news to post! :D )

Damn, I'm happy to hear the fact that they're gonna do the port in-house. Seems like Steam is indeed making it much better over-all!

Another game LGP loses out on though - things still need to get better for them if they want to successively renew themselves.

Shadowgrounds, Survivor, Postal 2, and now all of the X3 titles are better purchased from other services. They need to improve upon this.

Thanks to Desura and other digital platform distributions, they will recover, enven if I am a little bit worried of the poor sales performance of their titles in Desura

There is also the fact that RuneSoft is also moving into that area as well though and getting more seriously invested in Linux again, giving them some more competition from another porting company (and one that does not use DRM, as far as I know).

I know, and some Runesoft games are very addictives. I hope they will port older games such as 8th wonder of the world and RTS games
