Have an Nvidia Optimus chip? Look here!

By -
So if you have a laptop with Nvidia Optimus (Intel and Nvidia graphics) it can be a royal pain to get it all working correctly (currently you would always be using the Intel chip), quite some time ago (over a year infact!) I did an article covering something called Ironhide showing you how to access your Nvidia chip, nowadays Ironhide is pretty much dead so here's how to do it.

The Bumblebee Project was pointed out in that earlier article but progress was slow now that things have come a way since then it's easier than ever!

Once you install Bumblebee you get access to use the command "optirun" which basically makes whatever app you put after it run on the Nvidia chip.

If you pair Bumblebee with Primus and use "primusrun <appname>" instead of "optirun <appname>" you can actually get better performance.

Happy Gaming!

Although none of this applies to me now since I have a desktop pc I hope this helps you laptop users out there who don't already know about it. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.
