This is interesting LA Game Space is kickstarting to make a nonprofit center for videogame art, design, and research. A place for game innovation, education, and exhibition; where all of us can play and make and study and showcase games.
What makes it interesting is if you pledge at least $15 you get access to 30+ games, some prototypes, a brand new game and some decent indie titles like Aquaria as well!
Sounds like a good idea to me, especially since videos will be available online so if you don't live in LA you won't miss out.
