Half-Life 1 coming to Linux!

By -
Half Life 1 has popped up on the Steam CDR and several people have already tested it and got it to work! Pretty big news since it still is such a huge game and Valve's first game!

So it looks like the next Valve title to grace Linux will be the original Half-Life I didn't see that one coming at all! I do have pretty good memories of the game and loved it!

This is not an official release it seems it's in Beta at the moment.

An old unofficial trailer:

It seems I don't actually own the game on my current Steam account (it's on my really old original account i lost all info for a long time ago :() so i won't be able to play test, but i will probably buy it again thanks to this!

Counter Strike next please Valve! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Still good to see all the valve game's coming over.

This could easily pave way for stuff like Counter Strike to come too ;)

cstrike.so and bshift.so are in the files, so they are already compiling on Linux at the least.

If you opt in the beta test in the Counter Strike properties, you'll be able to install Counter Strike 1 point fucking 6 on Linux. Natively. Pretty much what I've been waiting for for literally 6 years.

ha, that made me dig up the old CD and enter the code, never did that for half life 1, back when it was released I did not see the reason as steam was just for online stuff and having a crrrrr-beeep-crrrr modem that was way to expensive.  old code did work fine just now :)
