Colonial England. Under a certain amount of… duress… Jack takes on a job which will not only cause him a great deal of trouble, but also bring to light the answer to a mystery out of his distant past. A lack of money leads Jack to accept a charter to take a British secret agent to mysterious “Tooth Island”.

When Jack’s ship shatters on the mysterious island’s cliffs on arrival and the secret agent quickly becomes a meal for a monster in the jungle, Jack is soon left to cope with the situation on his own. “ Tooth Island” is ruled by the strange Doctor T, who is cultivating man-eating plants and has his own dastardly plans for the British Empire. And why does he seem to know Jack, who can’t remember ever having been on Tooth Island? What are Doctor T's plans? And what does he know about Jack’s past? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This is the first time I've heard of this game, but the trailer makes it look like good fun. I always enjoy games that put some form of humor into them :)

Is this a game actually made for Linux first? Or are my senses just messing with my mind?

This game is old. It has been released years ago, on windows, mac, and linux.
The game was made by deck13 and was ported and published on mac and linux by runesoft.
Don't worry man, you won't find someone crazy enough to publish a linux version before windows and mac x) That's a dream. A delicious one, but still a dream.

But it is funny, and a good adventure game.  I know I'm not the only one who has been working on RuneSoft since last year, trying to get them to publish their back catalog on Desura!  This one has loads of funny shout-outs to other classic adventure games and popular culture (like film and television).

I'm hoping we can help raise enough sales on Jack Keane to convince RuneSoft that it will be worthwhile to publish the sequel under development, Jack Keane and the Fire Within for a release with the Windows version.

Also, Linux-first publishing has happened before.  It is rare, but not unheard-of in the indie games world.  They are usually small games built by 1-2 man crews.

Well, that makes sense. Seriously though, for an old game I couldn't tell by the graphics. It looks new to me. Maybe it's just that my mind is stuck in the PS1 era :P

[Still love the PS1/PS2 and Xbox 1 generation so badly..]

While I've already completed both this and the first Ankh (never really got round to play the second one) seeing these games available through a more modern means than tuxgames.com is much appreciated!

I bought a  copy from tuxgames a few years ago, and concur that Jack Keane is a fun game with some zany humor even in the puzzles.  When I saw Jack Keane 2 coming out last year, I registered at a Deck10 forum in order to request a Linux port for the sequel -- one of the forum admins didn't even realize that there had been a port of the first one!
