The Humble Weekly Sale

By -

So it looks like Humble Bundle have taken a few ideas from IndieGameStand on this one and started doing weekly sales.

First up is Bastion on Linux, Mac and Windows.

One captivating game to rock your week. The Humble WeeklySale features a new deal every Tuesday. Be sure to jump on this amazing offer before it’s gone! This week, pay what you want to get Bastion!

I hope they try to keep up multiplatform support on this one. I am guessing it will all be games from previous bundles or else it will kind of remove the massive selling point on the bundles - new games.

What do you all think to this? Personally I think "meh" we already had IndieGameStand doing this and now Humble.

It's true that there's already IndieGameStand for this, but they don't feature Linux titles as often as I'd like (which would be always, of course :P). They recently announced their next 3 games will be Linux-compatible, though (yay!).

Plus, I regard these Humble Weekly Sales as an opportunity to snatch games from bundles I didn't got (because I'm assuming they'll feature games from past bundles, at least by now).

if Transistor had "linux" next to it I would go for the big package as that looks really really good.  But right now they just say
QuoteWe expect Transistor to be released in early 2014. We have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.

did not know about indiegamestand, just checked that... 900 sales on that vs 2600 on humble in that short time, bit sad :/

@Bumadar

You're not getting their next game in any case here, so it makes no difference! It's just a postcard.

That is actually an interesting point there. Might be a way of grabbing certain things I have missed. I already have Bastion though... :|

To be honest, I think this is a bad idea. At the end of the day someone will end up shafted - prolly the gamedevs. Who knows: Maybe they actually agreed to this. In that case we shall see what happens...

... of course they agreed with it? It's not like HiB just decided to randomly start doing a weekly game sale of stuff they're not allowed to sell.

I just hope this doesn't turn into "some just windows only", "some just windows, or mac only".... I would still like to see actual bundles in between weekly sales. I do however like how we will be seeing something every week, other than having to wait a few months.

Indeed -- I'm worried that they will start pushing platform specific games.

I hope they don't, but as I commented about HiB before, their terms for developers to be included seems to have slackened with regards to platform requirements.

As I stated before I'm fairly convinced they'll be featuring games from past bundles, and therefore the vast majority of them will be cross-platform.

But it just occurred to me that they do sell a fair amount of non-Linux games on the Humble Store, and that they may be featuring those as well... :S:
