Valve continues pushing adding 5 new titles!

By -
Valve has done another push and put up 5 new games to Linux! All in Beta though so be warned there will be bugs! The titles are Ricochet, Deathmatch Classic, Team Fortress Classic, Half Life: Blue Shift and Half Life: Opposing Force!

It's great to see since to my knowledge that's all (or almost all) their older titles now at least in Beta, which can only pave the way for newer titles like DOTA2 and Counter Strike: GO (two of my favourites) to be ported over!

As usual thanks to the excellent SteamDB for the info.

Also a quick shout out for Steam Linux User Group who have a brand spanking new website where you can keep up with their Steam based gaming event, go check it out, but please come back soon ;).
Their next event is Apr 5 @ 8:00pm GMT for Team Fortress 2, I played last time it was a TF2 event and it was good fun, so hope to see more of you! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Is it just me or are the missing models still an issue with Opposing Force?

Otis is not available to shoot the zombie and open the door right near the start. Also, all the recruits in the initial barracks in boot camp are missing.

Counter-Strike Online is the only GoldSrc game that hasn't been ported, but do they even support that anymore?

More games! I can feel CS:GO inching closer now. I tried some Blue Shift gameplay, and it works beautifully:

Despite it being an old game, the story and gameplay are pretty much on par with what we have nowadays. I wonder what it would look like if they remade the Goldsrc games with the Source engine.

Just in case any one was wondering, they fixed the no NPC issue on Opposing Force here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/844
