Left 4 Dead 2 Linux Beta Coming Next Week!

By -
It's been a long time in coming, but it's finally here.

Earlier today, a post titled "I ever tell you about the time my buddy Keith played L4D2 on Linux" (a reference to recurring stories told by one of the L4D2 characters) appeared on the Left 4 Dead Blog.

QuoteThe L4D2 Beta build is a separate download from the main game. This is where we are testing new features to the game – currently we are testing EMS. Starting next week, we will be testing Linux there as well.

The Left 4 Dead 2 Linux client will appear in the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 Beta app, similar to the Team Fotress 2 Beta app, which appears as a separate game and is not compatible with servers running the normal game.

The beta will be accessible for all L4D2 owners, and is slated to go live next week!

Yeah i was wondering what took them so long. They also didn't explain why TF2 took it's place at beta launch.

At least they are getting the ports done :)

Looking forward to playing this again!

I think it's simple: TF2 is free: more testers ! (And nobody complaining it didn't work even though they paid.)

Yeah TF2 is an awesome game. I first started actually playing TF2, when it came out in Linux. I play it to much now..lol.
