Well folks today I break the news to you that Earth 2140 is officially coming to Linux via Runesoft!

The game itself Earth 2140 was originally ported by Runesoft to Mac as stated on their official page on it here. This was back in July of last year!

After contacting them I got this reply:
QuoteHi Liam,

:)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes indeed, E2140 will be making its way to Linux after all. We are currently testing the game and if all goes well....it should be ready for relase on several platforms sometime in may.

So there it is folks, next month could see another game hit Linux and my favourite genre too!

Hopefully someone can point us to a better gameplay video than this (sadly Runesoft have no trailer listed for it).

I dunno why, I'm 99% sure this is the first I've heard of this game, but I feel like I've heard it somewhere else before too.

This game is very old. 1997 made in Poland :) Good game, just not sure did it aged well.

So this game was released before Starcraft 1. Guess that does not mean it cannot be good but that combined with their affiliation with TopWare who have done some pretty questionable anti-piracy work makes me not very interested.

That was for 2160 not for 2140 and Runesoft are a completely different company as well who don't use DRM or any anti-piracy tactics like that.

Personally I feel Runesoft are worth supporting.

well....this looks like original C&C graphics hahah, and this is not even a RPG or something with depth of gaming so...no...not buying

Does any one know if the game has modding support? Perhaps like the the older C&C games (with the rules.ini editing).

People should keep in mind that Runesoft are doing this to port more of their old catalogue to Linux, rather than just grabbing new tittles. Personally, I applaud them for it.

Not just that, they update their older titles to fix bugs like their other Linux ports on Desura.

I will be buying this -- I love the older fixed view RTS'.

As my previous comment may have alluded to, I would love to be able to mod it though :)

I still play Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, thanks to OpenRA

It's 1997 game, it's 16 years old game, some of the readers weren't even in the project back then ;)
I'm not saying that all oldies are bad games, far from it - but why port an ancient title and try to sell it instead of porting newer titles.
