Welcome to another edition of The Cheapskate's Corner. This time with significantly less stuff to tell you, as many of last week's bundles have already ended and there're no new ones to occupy their place. Let's recap what happened in the last seven days, first.
· The Humble Double Fine Bundle finished yesterday, having grossed more than a million and a quarter dollars from more than 150,000 sales. Quite a respectable figure but it could have done better, some might argue. Anyways, this bundle's leaves us with a legacy in the form of Linux versions for Psychonauts, Costume Quest, Stacking and Brütal Legend on Steam. If only they continued to be available DRM-free... (at least Psychonauts is)
PS: At the time of writing this article the Humble Weekly Sales have returned, but with a Windows- and Steam-only deal. :(
· Indiebundle.org's The Alpha Bundle also ended this week, to make room for newer bundles. Not a bad decision after all, since most of this bundle's games were not in alpha anymore... Unfortunately this site's newest bundles don't include a single Linux game, so we're not bothering to tell you about them.
· And finally, Show Me The Games' initiative called Show Me The Sales also finished some days ago, leaving behind a miscellaneous variety of indie games sales. We'll be alert for possible future re-runs. :)
Luckily, there's still 3 bundles/wholesale sales (please excuse the redundancy) going on:
Groupees' Be Mine 8, which has already revealed all its bonus and mistery games and none of them has a Linux version. So we are left with Paranautical Activity at the $1 level and the promise of a Constant C Linux port at the $5 level tier.
By the way, some people (yours truly included) are having a bad time trying to make Paranautical Activity work. If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let us know.
EDIT#1: Thanks to Xpander we learnt that what we thought was a bug, actually was just a lack of patience from our side. Turns out that after clicking the «Play» option, the game takes quite a long time to load the level (more than a minute in our case) and we mistakenly thought it freezed. So there's really no issue whatsoever with this game after all. :P
EDIT#2: We were wrong in another respect: this bundle isn't actually limited to 8 bonus pieces, as they've uncovered the 9th one today. And considering it's conditioned to such an ugly number of sales as 21,500 we can safely assume there will be more bonus, so anything can happen yet!)
There's 6 more days before this bundle expires, so you can take your time to ponder if it's worth buying or not.
EDIT#3: We were also wrong in the bundle's duration, but this time it wasn't our fault. The bundle has been extended by one week, so that makes it available until 4 June. Moreover, a 10th bonus game has been announced, and it's allegedly awesome. They will be giving a clue everyday since its identity is revealed. By now we only know that it's a Steam game with a Metascore of 70 or higher. What could it be?
EDIT#4: More clues have been revealed. They are as simple as: «Light», «Will» and «Man?». The game cover has also been updated. We still have no idea what game could it be. :P
A little more than that (7 days) is the deadline for most of Shinyloot's Key Indie Sale games. There's a wide range to choose from and, as a matter of fact, there are 2 new Linux sales that weren't available last week: Hacker Evolution Duality and The Curse of Nordic Cave. Here's the full gallery of Linux games on sale at Shinyloot:
*
*Before anyone asks, let us specify that The Cat Lady can be played in Linux using the Debian version of Adventure Game Studio, but you need the original graphic and sound assets from the game.
But that's not all: mixed within all these individual games sales, there's also a bundle available! The Universal OS Bundle, which includes Spectraball, On The Shoulders Of Ancestors, Blue Libra II and Gravi:
All these games can be downloaded DRM-free and come with a Desura key except for Spectraball, that also include a Steam key, and Blue Libra II, which is available only DRM-free. Get them for only $3.99 anytime during the next 8 days.
And the last of the ongoing bundles is The Bitcoin Bundle, the bundle that (not surprisingly at all) only accepts bitcoins as payment currency. It features a bunch of old friends from Humble Indie Bundles:
This one is gonna be around 8 more days so, unless we forget to write it, you'll be hearing about it again in our next column.
As we said at the beginning of this article, there are no new bundles this week. So we'll take a look at Desura's and Steam's current sales (although some of them aren't that new):
The list of Desura sales right now include Life on a tiny earth, the symbolic ages at 20% off for the next 8 days, Hacker Evolution: Duality and Hacker Evolution: Untold, both at 75% off and available until next Monday, Pixel Dungeons (50% off), Dungeon Fray (40% off) and Getrieve 2 (50% off), the last three games being on sale sine die.
Also, don't forget to check the alphafunding section, where you can find a bunch of other interesting games at a discount.
There are currently 4 games on sale (plus one DLC) in Steam: Guns of Icarus Online at 50% off, Rochard (75% off) and its DLC Hard Times (50% off), Steel Storm: Burning Retribution (40% off) and Spectraball (33% off):
These sales will hold until 28 May (Guns of Icarus) or 27 May (the rest).
A new Get Loaded 72-hour deal has just started! Featuring 14 games, with 4 out of them being (or being soon) available for Linux on Steam: Hotline Miami (currently in Beta for Linux), The Cave, Stealth Bastard Deluxe and Puddle.
Get 2 of them for €8, so you could get them all for €16 or, what is the same, at about 60% off. However, if you're only interested in The Cave or in Puddle we recommend you to get them elsewhere for less than €8 (see our Game Sales page for more info).
We forgot to tell you that the current IndieGameStand's deal is a Linux game! Pay what you want ($0.25 min for a Desura key) to get Zigfrak:
Beat the average (currently at $1.56) to also get the game's OST in MP3 format. The deal will last for less than 2 days, so hurry up if you like space-themed action RPGs!
And this is all for today. Remember that you can always check what the current sales are at our Game Sales page, so don't blame us for not informing you about them! See you next week! ;)

Hey, how dare you reference me in context, you fiend you. :P
btw whats the issue with paranautical activity?
it works out of the box for me (the level loading time is pretty big though, like 30 sec or so, its like in frozen state for a while)

OMG, you're right! I'm just too impatient, you see... although it was more like a whole minute for me, but it loaded the level at the end. :D
I kinda assumed that after the first screen (the 'Start' or 'Quit' one) there would be another one with more options and stuff.
I'm editing the article right now and I'll hop off to the Desura forums to say that everything's OK right afterwards.
i measured the time it takes for me. its exactly 40 sec every time.
that still might be some sort of bug
1) Steam game with a Metascore >= 70
2) Light
3) Will
4) Man?
The game's cover image is being progressively revealed with each clue (I'm particularly intrigued about what could the lower right thingie be):

I've got a strong feeling that all this suspense will be fruitless in the end as the game will surely be Windows-only, but let us enjoy it while we can! ^_^
What do you mean? The Be Mine 8 mysterious game? Well, it turned out to be Primordia, which technically is a Windows-only game but can be played using the AGS Linux port nonetheless.
