Legends of Aethereus the Kickstarted RPG game has been officially release now along with many new versions over the past few months and it's looking good!

You can buy it now from greenmangaming for £19.99.

It was Kickstarted back in July of last year and raised a cool $10K over it's goal!

To anyone who has played it, what are your thoughts, is it worth it for others to get a copy? I still haven't found the time to give it a proper go.

The developers seem really nice too, they took the the linux_gaming reddit and gave out lots of free copies, they did this more than once too!

They also need help getting onto Steam if you can spare a vote. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Hello all,

The Current version of the game does in fact run quite well on Linux, and any keys from GMG work just fine for the linux version of the game. There was a small error with the text so it doesn't show linux comparability, but it is in fact compilable.

As for some of the bugs and issues being reported, please do me a huge favor and drop those bug reports on our official forums located here: http://forum.threegates.se/index.php so we can get them fixed for you asap.

It is worth reporting the bugs on the forum as suggested, since the devs really have been paying attention to bugs encountered on Linux.

When I first started trying the LoA Linux betas they were pretty unplayable on my system. I've seen a lot of important bugs getting fixed between those early betas and the last beta before this official release, including memory optimizations, mouse-grabbing behavior, crashes in game settings, major graphic artifacts on radeons, and the whole multiplayer feature being added. The only reason I'm not jumping on this release yet is that my aging desktop is a little too low spec for multiplayer, which is how I really want to play LoA. I'll get back to LoA in a couple months after getting a new desktop.

Uhm, I'm a bit puzzled.  So I can buy this from GMG, and will get a key(?).  But where do I get the game?  GMG doesn't mention Linux at all.  So will there just be a non-mentioned Linux download in the link location they send? Any info on the requirements (libs etc.)?

I assume you'll get a link, since kickstarter backers got emailed a link that has Linux download. The same activation key works for any of the platforms.

No special dependencies were needed, at least on Ubuntu 12.04 partitions where I play Unity-based games (being the officially supported distro for Unity 4)
