From the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Dear Esther comes a new first-person horror game that will drag you to the depths of greed, power and madness. It will bury its snout into your ribs and it will eat your heart.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs (Steam, Desura) - Looks like it just went up on Steam for pre-order folks for £10.39 as it's 20% off right now. This should give me some encouragement to actually finish the first one but damn...it freaks me out.

Unique Selling Points
  • Unique game created in collaboration between two independent game companies famous for exploring the outer reaches of what games can be.
  • Fresh and new approach to the Amnesia world while staying true to its origins.
  • Unique physics interaction that has been developed and improved since 2005.
  • Exceptional artwork and environments that run on low system specifications.
  • The darkest, most horrific tale ever told in a videogame.
  • Stunning soundtrack by award-winning composer Jessica Curry.

Well, a year behind its original schedule, but the original release plan was madness. Good to see it is trending to a release now though.

I am actually looking more forward to Asylum, but that is probably because I preferred Penumbra to Amnesia anyway, and Asylum looks closer to it than even Frictional's later endeavors.

Still added this to my lengthy Desura shopping cart though. ;)

Thanks for this :) just preorder on steam. Can't wait to play it on Linux :D I did play first one but that was last year when there was no steam for linux. I just pray that it will be a good port on linux. Do you know if it is a true port or wine/dx wrapper port?

Frictional Games have always been pretty adamant about day 1 linux support (so a native version).  The last game had a linux version from the start, but it wasn't available on steam linux until steam linux came out (obviously).  I doubt it's even a port - I think they generally follow best practices here and just develop for all platforms that they plan to support from the outset.

I mean, I know Frictional isn't the developer this time, but I'm sure they're at least guiding the Machine For Pigs team, so it should be a similar deal.

Also, I'm with everyone who can't seem to finish the first Amnesia 'cause it's just that damn terrifying.  I end up hiding in the corner with my (the character's) lantern out for way too long as my (the player's) heart rate slows down a bit.  And then the lantern goes out, and I get completely freaked again.

Still, even if I'm not capable of playing it, I want to support the game, 'cause it's a damn fine example of what a horror game should be.

I am odd because I finished it? :|

At any rate, it is the same engine as the original game I believe, so it should be properly native. Thank Edward Rudd for his work on that. ;)
