Haven't heard of Dragon's Lair?! Well, you play the heroic Dirk the Daring, a valiant knight on a quest to rescue the fair princess from the clutches of an evil dragon! Originally released in the summer of 1983, Dragon's Lair has solidified itself as a cultural icon in gaming.

Control the actions of the daring adventurer, finding your way through the castle of a dark wizard, who has enchanted it with treacherous monsters and obstacles. In the mysterious caverns below the castle, your odyssey continues against the awesome forces that oppose your efforts to reach the dragon’s lair.

Dragon’s Lair is a fully animated classic arcade game from legendary animator Don Bluth. You’ll make your way through the castle and caverns below and wield your sword against some strange creatures. Beware of your foes, as they are numerous!
Lead On Adventurer. Your Quest Awaits!

On their Steam forum a user asked about a Linux version, at first their response was:
QuoteIf there is enough interest we can certainly consider releasing one.

After another user said not to get our hopes up over that response, the developer came back to say:
Quote@MDuh...why shouldn't they get their hopes up? We're a pretty small dev and if at least 50+ would want it, we can make it for them.

The thread itself is now 7 pages long, so looks like there is plenty of interest for the game to come over to Linux. Pop over to the thread and give your thoughts if you would like to see it come to Linux.

There are so many versions of this game, i remember playing the version on eiter atari st or was it 286pc back then, if its that version then they can keep it, nothing more then a set of quick time events

Considering the age of the game, this gives me hope that Heroes of Might and Magic 3 will make it to Linux in all its glory as well. I would love for Heroes of Might and Magic 2 to come along as well. On that note, why not bring all of Heroes of Might and Magic to Linux? I would be blessed!

@FutureSuture: You are aware of the already existing Linux version of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 by Lokigames, aren't you?

Then there is also the VCMI project doing a open source reimplementation of the HOMM3 game engine, and the Free Heroes 2 Project for Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (though I haven't tried any of those two yet, so I don't know how well they work...).

Yes, good old Loki version of Heroes III which I played on my PPC iBook!

It was much nicer than fighting with wine to get Heroes V to play at all, with plenty of funky graphics artifacts :(

So sick of Wine.

Yay for the 2nd golden age of native Linux gaming!

With a Linux client, this game would be a prime candidate for a Humble Bundle With Android title, I would think.

I was one of the guys voting for a Linux port, but it´s been a while since the last response from the devs and there are more than 50 persons wanting the gaming already, I am keepingmy hope, the game code is not complicated, since it´s a series of quick time events and videos, so a port for Linux would be very easy.

Thing is, if DL gets ported, there is a good chance of more Laserdisk games being released in the future. They own the rights to over 30 IIRC, just imagine them being released one by one for Linux.
