As more time goes by more Wasteland 2 screenshots have filtered in and now we have 18 minutes worth of gameplay and some info on the Linux release.
I got in touch with the developers to make sure Linux won't be a delayed release and got this nice response, they also noted about the original Wasteland to us;
Which is great news for Wasteland 2 and RPG fans on Linux!
Also we have 18 minutes of the game to show you!
Looks like it's really coming together now, can't wait to see it on release.

QuoteLiam, with Unity porting to Mac and Linux both has become significantly easier and we don't foresee any problems giving it a simultaneous release.
Wasteland is currently planned for Windows, the source code is decades old and I don't know if we have the manpower to port it to Linux, it may have to be a DOSbox option for Linux, I can't say.
Thanks,

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Yet EA have open the source code of SimCity, so that definitely could happen (I doubt they're planning to make a new quadrilogy of Wasteland anyway).

As much I don't like EA, another reason for not open sourcing old engines might just be that they don't have access to it anymore. I'm still dreaming about a source-code drop of the Bullfrog and Origin engines, in particular Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, WC 3-5 (and many more). Won't happen... :/
In case they have still access to the source code going open source would be only beneficial for EA. The engines will be ported _for free_ in no time to Linux/Mac and fixed to run on recent Windows versions. EA could simply sell these legendary games on GOG to provide a legal way to get the assets. That'll surely generate additional money (for free).

I wish the damn developers who say they are going to make multiplatform support for their games, would work on all three versions from the start! These guys got millions to make this game.
For Hairbraned Schemes anyway.

Quoting: MinkihnWell, they could open the source code for the first Wasteland. I'm sure there would be people willing to make a modern game based on that (just like OpenTyrian) :-)I got in touch with them again on this:
Quoting: inXileWe do not own it so we can not make it open source.
