Arma Tactics is a turn-based close-combat strategy game, where you take control of a four-member Special Forces team. There are no given strategies, rails to move on, or paths to follow; it‘s up to you to decide how you will play through both the story-driven missions and generated missions with randomized objectives.

Linux is now listed as an option on its SteamDB entry and I've seen a few reports of it working nicely for people, so it may be in beta and have a few bugs but it should be playable now.

There are no given strategies, rails to move on, or paths to follow; it‘s up to you to decide how you will play through both the story-driven missions and generated missions with randomized objectives. Whether using stealth or a more direct approach, you will need to use your strategic thinking and use both basic and advanced weaponry while facing many different opponents - ranging from unorganized local militia to smart and skilled mercenaries.

With highly replayable missions, achievements, weapons to unlock and a whole additional campaign coming in October 2013, Arma Tactics offers many hours of intense ever-changing action.

We told you about this quite recently after a developer talked about it on the Steam forum, so it's not surprising, hopefully if they see good sales the Arma FPS games could come to Linux in the future. It has no Linux icon yet but that will come in time. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Is gameplay fun? I can only find reviews for the mobile version, where they mostly complain about missions taking too long for mobile playing but also that it's often not possible to tell if a soldier is in cover properly. Has the latter been addressed for the Linux release?

There is definitely an issue with telling if soldier is in cover. I don't know for missions taking too long as I'm in the middle of the first one, but this one seems to take quite a time to finish. Also note that achievements currently does not work.

That's it finally got its linux badge on Steam now (it showed up yesterday, here in the UK). If I wasn't knee deep in Mark of the Ninja, I'd have bought it already. Maybe one for next weekend though.
