GOL Cast: Lock and Load Loads of Weapons in Moon Rift

By -
Hopefully you still remember me after a week long break, but I am happy to tell you that I'm back with the videos! Today we will take a look at a game which combines shooting, platforming and RPG elements in a nice 2.5D package.

Enter Moon Rift, an 8-bit style platform shooter with a little RPG in it. There is no backstory to speak of (at least not yet) and the game focuses on the weapons (there seems to an endless suply of different ones), simple gameplay and extremely bouncy enemies.

The game has just been succesfully funded on Kickstarter and according to the message within the game, it will be released at some point in November. Currently it is in pre-alpha stage and it really shows with the random bugs the demo version has, but the idea is there and they still have time to refine the gameplay and fix all the bugs before the full version is released.

You can get more information about the game and access to the demo here: http://www.moonrift.com/ Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Reminds me a little of Shoot Many Robots on Steam (Windows-only). Shaping up nicely, but if I'm being honest I'm getting a bit bored with the whole SMR and Awesomenauts thing. Plus, it'll have to be better than Shank, and that's a tall order!

One to keep an eye on though. Almost a Borderlands style array of weapon stats in there!

The relation between the size of the player character and the gun makes me think somebody had to over compensate for something...
