That's right folks as is usual the Humble Indie Bundle 9 has added some new games, two of which are brand new to Linux "A Virus Named Tom" and "Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken".

That makes it now a total of 10 games, I think it's one of the best bundles yet. Been enjoying Mark Of The Ninja personally and think it's EXCELLENT.

Linux users are leading the fold as usual by paying the highest, sadly though as usual as well we are also the lowest slice of the pie in terms of sales. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

CodeWeavers, not Crossovers.

Haha, you reported this faster then the humble bundle sent me an email about it. Good work, as usual! :)

Ah well you know what I mean.

I wouldn't say that this bundle is spectacular on the port side. MotN is quite literally the worst port it could have been, and AVNT has some issues (although I trust flibit to fix them, but I do not trust Alternative to make a good port, not after Shank 2 and MotN).

Fez and Rocketbirds though, good ports.

Seems though, that there's over-all less Linux sales with this bundle. I guess the "summer of DRM and Windows bundles" has antagonized the Linux crowd, unsurprisingly.

I haven't run into any issues with Shank, Shank 2 or MotN. I have already completed the first two multiple times and everything seemed to go smoothly.

I finished Shank2 without any major problem (one freeze here, one closing down there, but nothing terrible) and I have been playing MotN and so far so good! Rocketbirds is not available on Steam for Linux yet while a Virus Named Tom can be downloaded.

I had big issues with MOTN. With a controller I couldn't stop running. And at one point the level scenery all disappeared and I was moving on air.

Hi,

For MoTN and your problem with the gamepad (i have a 360 controller), you need to do this before to start the game:
sudo rmmod xpad
sudo xboxdrv --silent
(Install first xboxdrv if you don't have it)

MOTN runs silky smooth for me here, only issue I have is the same as a lot of other games, if my firefox gmail notifier pops up it pauses the game, bit annoying but it happens to most games I play.

It's chicken versus penguins in Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. This side-scrolling action-platformer features clever characters and even cleverer gameplay. Play as a gun-toting chicken with the mission of taking down the tyrannical penguin faction. Besides some quick shooting action and stealthy duck and covers, you can also control a penguin with brain bugs and jet through the sky with rockets.
Now, is this really a game us Linux users want to support? :P

I also had problems with my gamepad (Logitech Dual Action) in Mark of the Ninja. For some stupid reasons, the xbox controller the game expects treats the trigger buttons as axes, while my gamepad, of course, treats them as buttons. I can't map a button to an axis with jscal, so no dice with just that.

I managed to fiddle something that mostly works together with xboxdrv (manually mapping everything) and jscal (to reorder the axes). But no matter what I try, the dpad isn't recognized.

On a positive note, I'm completely hooked on the Rocketbirds soundtrack. :)

Rocketbirds has appeared on Steam Linux but doesn't install data. Is it just me ? I know it's not the first game that behaves like this (with the data properly appearing a few days later) but as steamdb.info doesn't mention a problem, I thought I'd rather ask...

Has anyone else had issues with A Virus Named Tom? I installed it and I'm on a KDE Desktop. If I search for it on quicksand (e.g. enter "A v"), quicksand crashes. If I search for it in the application menu, the menu and the plasma desktop crashes. I also had this problem with Capsized... :(

Yep, just installed AVNT and I've got the identical problem. Kubuntu 13.04 64-bit.

I haven't tried AVNT (and besides I play games through Steam when possible) but maybe the launcher is buggy and crashes KDE? Have you tried checking the corresponding desktop file that should be in /usr/share/applications?

BTW, Rocketbirds is not functional on Steam Linux.

Hi,

sudo rmmod xpad
sudo xboxdrv --silent
(Install first xboxdrv if you don't have it)

Finally tried this today and it worked like a charm (though no dice in Teleglitch). Should've played sooner, such fun :)

Thanks for the tip abelthorne. The offending file was in ~/.local/share/applications, specifically the Icon entry in avirusnamedtom_com-avirusnamedtom_1.desktop. Putting the Icon entry in quotes (or removing the file), should fix the problem.
