Humble Indie Bundle 9 Has Bloody Landed

This used to be my favourite pastime, but in the end there just wasn't enough dying kids with a rock collection.

I was just pointing out that the rules have changed beginning with this bundle, not that it was right or wrong or whatever...

I have to admit that after all my griping about HiB having lost their way now that they're being alpha funded by big outside influences, it's great to see two stunning games (Fez and Mark of the Ninja) making their linux debuts. This is what HiB used to be all about and despite my reservations, and despite owning all but Fez and Eets Munchies, I stumped up $35 for this bundle.

I have no doubt they'll continue to push Windows-only publisher-based bundles and that will make me sad, but as has been pointed out in the past, at least they continue to work with some developers to create linux versions of games that otherwise wouldn't be made. And that's definitely a good thing.

I picked up the steam key for each of these and they all run gloriously on Manjaro.
I expected some sort of performance drop by pushing Trine's gfx settings to max but it didn't happen, the game just looked even more gorgeous. It's great to see a bunch of games that all run so well on linux

Does Mark of the Ninja work properly with the xbox 360 controller for anyone?

For me RT and LT are always pressed, making the character run all the time. Shank 1& 2 (also from Klei) also had problems with the RT and LT buttons, but there at least there was an option to remap them.

(Ubuntu 13.10; tested with  xpad & xboxdrv drivers)

Hmmm, I just checked and this seems to be happening to me too. I'm searching for a fix on the old tintyweb now though

Edit: Well I got it to work by blacklisting xpad and installing xboxdrv. I have no idea how to get xboxdrv to autostart effectively at boot though so I have to run 'sudo xboxdrv' to get my controller to be recognised now.

About time we got DRM free Goblin Menace. I just hope Frozenbyte keeps supporting Desura and gives out a key for it. :|

I would have also bought the bundle for FTL, but I already grabbed it on sale last summer, and I of course already have Brutal Legend from the Double Fine Bundle. So it is mostly Goblin Menace that is keeping my interest up.

But since I got Trine 2 for free though a contest here on GoL, what I am paying for this bundle is not really a big thing to spend for how many hours that game has already given me. ;)

If charity or supporting developers were your justifications, you'd be better off contributing directly to them rather than pay whatever the average is. Pushing the notion that something should be beyond criticism just because it involves charities or gives you the opportunity to undervalue a product is a little counter productive (aspects which are completely unrelated to any criticism that may have been there).

As abelthorne says, they were pointing out that another long-standing position of Humble Bundle promotions was changed without it necessarily being obvious to all, not commenting on whether or not this was appropriate.

The current average is interestingly low - no bundle that I've got hourly data for has been this low at this point in its duration (and the graph I posted earlier gives an idea of how far below it is). This is doubly interesting when if you consider that this bundle has the second highest starting separate price value of any HIB.

Have to say I am a little dissapointed by the bundle's games myself.

FEZ - Some cool mechanics, love the world flipping but another puzzle platformer, really tried to get into it but...just get so bored :(

Eets munchies - Plays like a mobile game, very very similar to Amazing Alex.

FTL - Got annoyed to death of failing miserably on it long ago heh

Trine 2 - Well, we have had this for ages.

Brutal Legend - We have also had this for ages.

Haven't tried MOTN yet, hoping it's this bundles redeeming game for me!

You are right it does work with xboxdrv ... i just tested in the first room, and walking doesnt work there.
